Why Holy Formed?

I know there are a plethora of online options when it comes to learning and growing. Each of them offers something a bit different, and each comes from the unique perspective of the creator for that online space. So I am delighted that you found your way to Holy Formed.

My hope is that in this space, you will find a community of people who are on a journey to deepen their walk with Jesus. A group of people who are willing to ask hard questions, wrestle with big ideas, and show kindness to one another along the way. My hope is that in this space, we will learn together the value of daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly formation practices while seeing how these practices shape a life.

Holy Formed is about understanding we were each formed by a loving God who desires for us to be a daily reflection of his love and goodness into the world around us. It is about realizing that knowing God requires intention, and that following Jesus and walking in friendship with him is a journey with no end, as there is always more to discover.

Lights in the World

At some point, we have all found ourselves in a blackout, scrambling around in the dark to find a light. In this world, where there is much darkness, we as followers of Jesus, are that light. There are billions of people, scattered across the globe, who proclaim faith in Jesus; every one of them intended to shine the light of Jesus into the darkness around them. The longer we walk with Jesus the brighter our light should become. Yet, at times, we find our light dimmed by the world around us.

Every day we are bombarded with a myriad of news that feels heavy and hard to believe. It is easy to grow weary and to be consumed by the darkness. Yet, as those that walk with Jesus, we are reminded that he is the light of the world. As heirs to God’s kingdom, we too carry the light of Jesus into every space we enter. Each of us has a variety of skills, which allow us to bring hope into this world daily. The Holy Spirit helps us see ways to love and serve people who cross our paths, and participate in transformation.

For us to be the beacons of light God intends us to be, we must pay attention to what is forming our lives. This is a space where we will slow down, learn about, and practice various formation tools that allow us to be present in the world around us while continuing to shine brightly.
